A description of the business units can be found at: https://www.jobs.irs.gov/about/who/business-divisions Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: These positions are located in The Chief Financial Officer, Deputy CFO, Senior ACFO Financial Management, ACFO Corporate Accounting. The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. -Reviews complex accounting documents and transactions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with IRS, Treasury, GAO and GSA regulations; processes transactions related to these accounting documents, computing changes to the automated financial system and determining whether transactions are legitimate and authorized; and codes or verifies coding of such documents to assure proper accounting classification. -Maintains proper controls to monitor and reconcile automated accounting system reports and ensures that all transactions utilized in the accounting system abide by standardized procedures or exception reports are prepared noting transactions that deviate from any standardized procedures. -Responsible for specific, ongoing programs that require special skills, i.e., balancing and reconciliation, coding, contract interpretation, and tax processing, etc. -Prepares or assists in the preparation of the more difficult financial reports. -Responsible for the reconciliation or assists in the reconciliation of the more difficult transactions to balances in the related control accounts; and identifies any discrepancies and initiates corrective action, including preparation of accounting code changes, payment corrections, or document reversals. This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if the position has career progression to GS-11, then you may move from a GS-05 to a GS-11 in as little as three years. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into “Continuous Vetting.” Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout ones employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBIs Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-05: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience includes: Experience performing a variety of basic tasks involving reviewing and processing documents and utilizing automated systems to correct and adjust accounts. OR EDUCATION: A bachelors degree or four (4) years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience equivalent to combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-06: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience includes: Experience with automated accounting systems; preparation of ledger sheets for business purposes; balancing and reconciling financial records for a business or organization; creating written responses to requests for information from financial institutions, private vendors, or Federal agencies; Experience applying standard accounting codes and terminology; application of various general accounting procedures, forms, and techniques; research and compilation of financial data for written reports; processing invoices, obligations, and reports to meet established timeframes. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-07: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience includes: Experience with automated accounting systems; preparation of ledger sheets for business purposes; balancing and reconciling financial records for a business or organization; creating written responses to requests for information from financial institutions, private vendors, or Federal agencies; Experience applying standard accounting codes and terminology; application of various general accounting procedures, forms and techniques; research and compilation of financial data for written reports; processing invoices, obligations and reports to meet established timeframes. Research and correct transaction errors and provide written documentation that outline the data used and actions taken.
